Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year in the Hasty house turned out to be great! I had my doubts seeing how this year would be our first year spending it just as a family...just the 3 of us. James did not get friday off this year so we had to stay home and not travel. James and I spent a of time in the kitchen together cooking while Jake napped. James did the cornish hens and I cooked the rest. Cooking together is something we LOVE to do but hardly ever get a chance to do together. A lot of good conversation comes from these times together! I love that my man can build/fix ANYTHING, can break boards in karate with his bare hands and knows the difference between rosemary and thyme and what that will taste like in a marinade(no making fun guys!....)!!!!!God TOTALLY knew how to pick the man for me!!!!.;)........anyhow, back to thanksgiving....
I really wanted this year to be special so I put some time into decorating the table and centerpiece. We also used our nice white linens and our nice dishes. I was so busy cooking that i forgot to take any pics:( I pulled together a lot of ideas from on of my all time favorite authors, Edith Shaeffer from ''the art of homemaking''...geez i love her!!!!
Jake was in such a fun mood and he loved that his daddy was home all day! Do you know that after cooking all that I did for that ''special'' day...he didn't like any of it!!! So Jake had a pb&j sandwich for thanksgiving dinner!!!!!!!!
On Friday and Saturday we put up Christmas!!! This year we decided to be ''retro'' and buy a REAL tree! we went to Hodges dairy farm and picked one out. totally reminded me of ''the Christmas story'' movie! we love our real tree! they were so nice ...as usual at Hodges dairy farm that I highly recommend going there!
Although we did miss the noise and laughter of family members....we really did enjoy this year as a family! We might even do it again next year!!!

Tagged again......

so NOW im supposed to list 8 things about myself you didn't know about me . and then do something or other ....whatever. I will tag NO ONE ELSE ;) okay, so i really had to think about this for a while since everyone else had such witty things to reveal. I have to sort through most of my really rebelliouse, before being saved.....memories.ugh. so in order to not have any c&c, i will keep it light:)

1. I eat ketchup on EVERYTHING!! eggs, taco's, speghetti, you name it, it needs it. I have had many conversations(dissagrements) with my husband on why it looks a little''red'' to ask for it at the Melting Pot. i will start bringing my own.

2. I went to a performing arts school 9-12 grade for theater. I didn't want to be a movie star...i wanted to be a raman-noodle eating, always waiting for the ''big break'' thespian who lived in a 100 sq.ft flat with 5 other ''thespians''.....in new york city.

3. I was always cast as the mean, snobby, cheerleader or some other snooty role.ugh. that got old. my theater teacher said until i trained my voice to get rid of the high-pitched squeak....i would always be typecasted.harsh.

4. James was my first ''real'' boyfriend

5. In middle school, i knowingly let my older sister get on the bus with her skirt tucked into her pantyhose. she was really traumatized. now i feel bad about that. but it was funny.

6. I used to believe in aliens. really. i watched that show''sightings'' so much that i started to wonder if I had ever been abducted by aliens too. It would have explained A LOT!

7. My favorite color is pink

8. I only eat pizza without the cheese. when my sis used to model, that was one of her ''secrets'' to be able to eat pizza. Funny thing is i prefer it over eating it with cheese now. yummy.

I though james looked so hot! can i say that on my blog??? someone said he looks like a country singer?????i'll take that as a compliment :) And jakes eyes look AMAZING!!!!
thank you jason!!
more pics to come!

Tagged

yeah....my friend juli tagged me on nameing 7 of my favorite children's books..I am sooo lost on this one! I have been a nanny for quite a while yet I don't really recall any''favorites'' of the stories. I read lovely cardboard books to jake right now so nothing really advanced :) He likes ''were going on a bearhunt'' a lot ...especailly when i make all the appropriate noises. And I do like ''goodnight moon''. and i can't forget ''where is baby?'' with the fun flip up tabs. I read a little of ''the gospel for children'' some nights as well. I don't know authors though. He listens to max maclean's voice over for the book of romans every night for bed too....does that count? ;) This has been great to see everyone's books, we have been wanting to stock up for part of his christmas presents but didn't know what to get. this answers that question! And everyone has been tagged that I know, so i can't tag anyone else!!!!

Halloween

Halloween

Every year the WHOLE family goes over to james parents house for yummy food and trick or treating. they all pile on the golfcart and go down one street to trick or treat. Jake loves to be around his 5 cousins and this year we had more family show up!...we did miss monica and her kiddos! Jake was a frog....maw-maw gave him a BIG bag full of candy, but daddy stole it and took it all to work....thank you!!!!

Jake has been HILARIOUSE lately! He really has his daddy's personality and humor! He loves when we sneak up on him and scare him...he laughs so hard! just like his daddy! he's taking his time with not quite walking yet. He will use his walking toys a lot and cruise around all the funiture so i think it will be soon. He has been so cheerful and fun, especially when he wakes up. He says ''uh-oh'' now for everything. He will drop something intentionally so he can say it. I'm starting to find his toys in the most random places....found one he put in the fridge when i wasn't looking and i hurt my foot steping in the shower on a plastic cow. It reminds me just how much my life has changed! ....James and i often wonder, what did we DO for the 5 years we were married before we had him? does anyone else remember life before kids....yet i really, really cherish those years getting to know my husband and it being just him and !. okay...i'm rambling.....here are the pics!.
