WOW...over a month!

I have not been good at keeping up with my blog here recently...sorry to those of you who actually still check this:)
I thought I'd actually write something for this post. Here are some updates on our family

Jake-
Oh boy, gotta love him!
My days are filled with lots of laughter and a few tears from this little boy! He will be 3 at the end of August and has been the ''typical'' 2 year old up to this point. He continues to love all things trains, but is expanding his passions to motorcycles, and well...anything with wheels. He has really enjoyed his bug catcher container from the dollar store....we catch lots of things everyday and then release them to go home to their mommies at night. He is particularly fond of toads and worms and ladybugs. He still LOVES his books and will now ''read'' them on his own during room time. I have been having ''devotionals'' with him most mornings after Seth goes down with his picture Bible book and he really,really loves it! He asks to read the God book quite often. He always wants to read the story of the crucifixion because he wants to see Jesus ''boo-boo's'' and he points out when he sees Mary weeping over Jesus on the cross that ''his mommy is crying''...I am really trying to seize these moments with him...in my botched up effort, to speak about God's love for us/him. We go through creation quite often too:) Such teachable moments!
We continue to train him to stay in his bed for naps. Some days are great and some days....not so much:) It has helped to push his naps back a little to 2ish. He is starting to take an interest in the potty but well....I'm not so interested:) We will really gear up for that this summer. He is really growing into a daddy's boy more and more....whatever daddy is doing, he has to be there too. I'm really happy with this new love for daddy...i was beginning to feel''over loved'' with having now 2 mommas boys;)
Jake does really great with Seth these days...actually he always has done wonderful, but lately he will play with Seth, not just beside him. He asks ''where Set?'' when I put him down for a nap. I think he really doesn't mind having him around!
I have really been enjoying him more since I have limited my phone calls and computer use while they are up. It has provided me with more discipline opportunities but even more so, the sweet moments of playing horsey, cuddling, and just plain having more ''conversations'' with him about really random stuff. There are so many things I want to start doing with him come fall that I'm super excited about...mainly a bit more responsibility with chores and a chore chart/reward system and start some sort of pre-school curriculum that I can do during ''learning time'' with him. Nothing too big or time consuming seeing how he only will be 3. If any of you have seen anything you liked for the younger kids please let me know. i am not good at just making up things to do when it comes to activities/learning....I really need some sort of structure and ideas:)
Jake fav's are-Trains, matchbox cars, bugs, being flown in the air by daddy, wrestling every night with daddy, books, Mcdonalds ''chicken nuts and fies'', his cousin Maleena, killing flies, Dora, NONI-the neighbor lady who gives him juice boxes(cause i don't) and candy EVERY DAY, being outside, cows, coloring, stickers, shutting the doors on Seth, hide and seek is HUGE in this house, and finally-the moment he hears the garage go up at 5:15 when daddy gets home!....and frankly-its ALL of our favorite times!
Well, There is always more to share about kids...but some of it only interests me...so I won't bore you with more things I love about Jake, just thought I'd share an update:)

Seth- Many of you have asked about his head issues. We still have seen no signs of anything wrong. We do see a neurologist in June to talk over what could possibly happen. I will update that after the appt.
My Seth is such a gigantic blessing to us. He seems to always be smiling and cheerful. He will be playing on the floor and starts squealing and smiling so hard when he sees me in another room...even I left the room just 1 minute before...as though I had been gone all day:) Really cute! He will go to anyone but if I am anywhere in he room...it's over, he only has eyes for his momma! He is taking a few crawls here lately so anytime now will be all over the house. He can go from a crawl to sitting position very fast, he's been doing that a while now, he is trying to pull himself up on things to stand, He refuses to eat baby food and now will only eat table food....he can eat half a can of green beans at one sitting... in addition to many other items!!! He just really wants to feed himself now...I'm fine with that:) He loves the typical food, and I'm not kidding when i say he will/can eat anything. He really doesn't seem to want to nurse much longer. He is acting very disinterested. I probably will wean him soon and give him bottle for a couple months till I go to milk. I have enjoyed nursing him for 9 months but i think we both are kinda ready to be through. I am looking forward to the rest of my breastfeeding weight to come off( i lost SO MUCH weight when I weaned Jake) and I really would like a weekend getaway without having to pump:) ----sorry if this is TMI--- i know some of you ask about stuff like this;)
I know he is still small but I am sure with his increase in all things food, he will pack em on soon:)
Seth fav's are wagon rides, mommy, bath time, graham crackers, hanging upside down , being flown in the air by daddy(verrererey carefully of course)licking the floor, pulling hair, and high on the top of the list is his love for Godiva! wow...this boy loves his big brown dog:)

These boys keep me busy and on my knees a lot asking for help from the Lord in this season, but It is so worth it! They bring me such JOY everyday! I have given up some outings during the week to be able to more regulate my time training Jake and being more purposeful at home...so I can honestly feel lonely at times:) We do get out, just not quite as much. If anyone would like to pay us a visit during the day, I would love more company!!!

Maybe later I will do an update on James and I. this update took way longer than I thought, and ....we are not too exciting anyway:)

seth's MRI results

i have not written for a while i know...even been too busy to take pictures: (

Seth's results from his MRI came today. He is missing some of his anterior corpus collosum. The Doctor will consult with others to see the next course of action but more than likely it will be a wait and see approach, just keeping an eye on his development, since he is so far developing great! I need to also ask about any vision problems he might have and what to do next. She also said that there may never be any signs of anything wrong..time will only tell.
Please pray that I (we) are aware of his development but not fearful and questioning every.little.thing. I did that too much with Jake...comparing....and I feel like that robbed me a little of my joy when he was younger. So and so just did this......is there something wrong?.etc..... Anyone around Jake now for a split second knows that he is a normal 2 yr. old boy....all that wasted time worrying!!!!!!

Thank you so much for all the inquiries as to how we are doing. We honestly have felt a peace that I know I can't explain...a peace that only my great God can give us. God made my baby boy perfect, ''knitting him together'' in my womb! If that perfect means we might have to work with him a little more on certain things in the future...that is fine with us. What a blessing he has been to us!!!! I will post again when the doctors call me back about what to do next.

We are thanking the Lord for what we would consider a good outcome!!!! Thank you all for your prayers!!!!!

This last month was busy for us...my birthday came and went, snow fell, we built inside forts, started feeding Seth solids, attempted to start to learn how coupon for groceries, i got to go with Katie to find out the gender of her baby,had a great visit with my nana as James was in California for a week and just general busyness of life. In an effort to restructure my days to most glorify God using my time more wisely, I have decided to limit my use of the computer. So far it has served my children and household greatly. I have also attempted to get back into excersizing....so needless to say with household duties, excersize, errands, spending time with my yougins, I will not be blogging quite as much...or checking my million blogs quite as often as well:) i will update mine...just not as often. What a handsome guy!!!

Yes a little late, like usual:)
We had a great christmas this year having two sons to celebrate it with. It was a month full of christmas parties, toddler ornament making, shopping, spending two days opening so many gifts from so many wonderful people, celebrating the birth of our SAVIOR, and spending AN INCREDIBLE amount of time with James! He was off for 10 days!!!! Oh, how it was so hard for me to let him go back to work! We slept in(kinda) and drank lots of coffee together, shopped, painted the boys bathroom, and enjoyed the children TOGETHER! It was wonderful.

Jake enjoyed his christmas this year...let's just say it was a ''Thomas the Train'' theme. WE were so incredibly blessed by the Wood's family (the family I nannied for ) for GIVING us ALL the gifts you see in the pictures! The only gift we bought him were the stocking stuffers and the art easel! Hundreds of dollars worth of toys...even the bike that was gently used, they gave us! What an answer to prayer! Little seth got a pair of p.j's from us( i know i know...but he really didn't need anything:0
Seth did receive gifts from family so don't feel as though he got short changed.

James gave me a panini press....wonderful..but I think he might be sick of eating them and of the word panini by now Note: pb&j is NOT GOOD in the press. My favorite gift was my smashbox makeup palette from my mom....A small slice of heaven in a case! it includes tons and tons fun colors of shadow, blush, bronzer,lip stuff, etc. It really goes on like butter. I am so loving it that i prefer to only use it when the kids are asleep and i can concentrate and enjoy my euphoric makeup moment...and no i am not shallow, its just there IS SUCHA DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRUG STORE MAKEUP AND REALLY REALLY NICE MAKEUP, I have never bought anything other than whats on sale at cvs, aka''the cheap stuff''and there is no comparison....okay enough about my makeup....:)

This Month has flown by for us! We have had so much fun getting ready for Christmas this year. Somehow, it really has not been stressful getting everything prepared. Seth is now 4 months old! He is such an easy baby. He is always smiling:) And when he does cry, it's not your typical baby cry...it's like a grown man's cry! for real.
He really loves his exersaucer and lights up when you just look at him. He has been rolling over for quite some time now(tummy to back) and has not conquered rolling back over, so sometimes I have to help him around 6 am roll back over:)
He really makes me want another one very soon;)

My computer hard drive crashed (long story) so I was without a computer for a bit, I really missed my online news websites. James had to catch me up on the day's news when he came home:) I don't watch t.v during the day and we rarely watch t.v at night, especially the world news, so half of the country could have broken off and fell in the sea and I would have never known:)

Winter Crafts

Over the last few weeks James has been busy making our family our own Advent Calendar. After scouring the internet for one this year to do, I found that they were either ugly or too expensive. James made ours with some plywood, household supplies
and dollar store stuff. We love it! We put little yummy treats in the cups and every morning BEFORE breakfast Jake gets to pull off the ornament cover and eat his treat. Now I try to explain WHY we get to pull one off each morning, cause we are counting down to baby Jesus birthday, and that is the reason we celebrate christmas, etc, etc...... I really don't think he quite understands it yet but hey, we are planting the seeds right? Next year he will understand more I hope:) We also have been playing a lot with the magnetic fridge manger scene(thanks reba!) Jake knows who mary and joseph and the magi are and makes sure that mary gives lots of kisses to all of them and the donkey too:) i asked him what the name of the angel was the other day and he said ''mommy'' and I said ''YES, mommy is an angel!!!'' (as james rolled his eyes..lol)
The other craft shown is his placemat that we made. We put a lot of paint and glitter and stickers on it and laminated it for him to use at the table. HE LOVES IT! he is learning his letters and colors using that too.

Okay...I'm sooo excited about stumbling across this website finding food recipe's for Thanksgiving......www.thepioneerwoman.com
This lady takes pictures of EVERY STEP of a recipe she gives out...totally awesome!!! AND she homeschools AND she is funny AND she is an amateur photographer that shows how she edits and changes her pictures right there for you to learn how to do(if you have the right equipment).
Granted, her recipes don't seem to be that healthy, but they sure sound good! I'm going to make her creamy mashed potatoes loaded with butter and all sorts of fat laden ingredients for thanksgiving(did I mention I'm trying to lose weight?;)

I don't give many props to websites, movies, politicians,etc.on my blog if I haven't really researched those things thoroughly, but I reallllyyyy like her cooking section and how the pictures never find you confused with the recipe instructions....LOVE IT!!!

The other weekend I took Jake, Seth and myself to the zoo with freinds for a birthday party. Now, I must tell you that I went without James. He happened to be leading the Alpha weekend trip away for church. I lowered my expectations for the day excursion and prayed fervently for days leading up to it for an abundant supply of grace in case my infant son wanted to nurse more than usual or my toddler wanted to assert his will more than usual:) I must admit, I didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a wonderful day! We were able to see all the animals and be somewhat cheerful even through not having a nap till 4:00!!!!!
By far, Jakes favorite thing was riding the train. I did get called out by the conductor for letting him stick his head and arms out the window...ooppps! Here are some pics of the day.

yes, my sweet Seth is almost 10 weeks old!!!!!!!Oh my, He has been such a blessing to all of us:)
He is really cooing now and smiling tons! He can sit in the bumbo chair for quite a while now...by the way...its dena's bumbo she is letting me borrow...i didnt buy a girlie lilac one for my manly men;) He takes 4 naps a day and sleeps 8-9 hours at night!!!! He has been since almost 6 weeks:) He does not like his car seat too much right now and prefers to sleep in his bed or packnplay.

Since all my friends are doing blog posts on politics, what they are reading in their devotional times, their stance on important issues, and how they are growing as a spouse.... all very wonderful posts I LOVE TO READ but.....I thought I would instead do some posts on....Our new ART CLASS!!!!!!!
I have developed a new schedule for my two year old that consists of moving to new activities quite often through the day. It has been wonderful! Now we don't really implement them on days where we are out....anyway, art class is both of our favorite! I found an awesome website for crafts for toddlers!!! Here is our leaf wreath! He for the most part picked up all the leaves on our walk and we together glued them on a paper plate. VERY SIMPLE stuff for a two-year old....I will periodically post our creations for the world to see:)

Another thing- Does anyone know where I can get a nice Advent Calendar for kids? Becky- where did you get yours? i think I remember how cute it was....oh yeah...i really don't want to make one...i want it to be nice;)

These are pictures from out 1st ''attempt'' to have a nice family pumpkin picking day...ahhh, therein lies the problem.....having a two-year old and infant:) We had to promptly leave and go home to *ahem* ''address'' a certain 2 year olds bad attitude, before getting a pumpkin, and the annual pumpkin pictures. We went back a few days later and picked out a wonderful pumpkin:) Here are the ''before'' shots of the day....i'll leave the ''after'' shots for your imagination.:)

No. we have not been hiding...just a lot has been going on here in the last few weeks....just a short list.

My sister from Colorado came down for a week to visit my sick grandmother. I got to spend only a day and night with her but it was so fun! She is pregnant with her second boy so we had fun shopping blue!

We put in hard wood floors and had to leave the house for almost a week...long story...but now we are trying to get glue spots off the wood floors that the installers have left!!! It's really bad looking...any ideas besides paint thinner????

Little updates with the boys- Seth is now SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!!! HOORAY FOR SLEEP!!!!!!! Yes folks that's right...about a week and a half ago he started sleeping 6-8 hours at night and hasn't stopped! Jake didn't do this till about 10 weeks with some help and Seth is only 7 weeks old. I have been alert and feeling great during the day! What's more is he also has gone from being a challenging baby to such a happy, sweet, cheerful little guy! He has stopped his bouts of crying and takes great naps. My sweet baby is now cooing and trying his best to talk to me! It melts my heart to hear his sweet voice and he is also smiling now too!!!! So many things he's doing now:) I love him so so so much!

Jake continues to amaze me.
Every Day he is doing or saying new things. Everything is '' Ewwww grooooossss'' these days. He has been pointing to his boo boos at random times during the day saying ''boo boo okay'' in a very reassuring tone.He often gives his little brother hugs and kisses saying ''awwww''
He has transitioned very well to his new world and that makes me so happy. He just grows in sweetness everyday. He loves the new train at concord mills that goes around the mall....totally obsessed. If you have not gone to ride it, you really should....it's very cute:)

What I thought could be a disaster today taking both boys in for well check ups was, in fact, nothing short of God's AMAZING kindness to me!!!!!! Jake did wonderful! He took his finger prick test like a man and was very cheery and sociable with the nurses. He wanted all of them to kiss his ''boo-boo''.....because of his flirtatious nature, he came out with 5 thomas stickers, 3 elmo stickers and a toy frog......all from different nurses he charmed:) he is 28 pounds(25th percent.) and 36 1/4 height (90th%) and developementaly right where he should be. My doctor said the average age for boys to be potty trained is 40 months! That's almost by 3 1/2! So, that we will start a bit later......
Seth is doing great as well! He can roll from his belly to back and did it for the doctor....she was very impressed and said he was exceeding his milestones. That made me very happy:) He is 9 pounds even(25%) and 23 inch(90%). Same percents as Jake.

So there are the stats for the mommies who like that stuff!

It seems I have been MIA here lately:)

I can't believe that in 1 more week my little baby will be a month old!!!! It seems sometimes that Seth has been with us for so much longer. I suppose carying him for 10 months contributes to that feeling:)

What has these last 3 weeks looked like in our house? Well, it's been a little crazy to say the least. I have a whole new respect for my friends that do the all-nighters AND homeschool there other children during the day!!!

My little Seth is my little cuddle bug. He really prefers to be held by me or James than sleep anywhere else.'' AWWWW'' you might say.....well....it presents quite a challenge in meeting the needs of my toddler who, has now decided to enter the ''terrible twos''lol. I think the hardest part of the last few weeks is seeing Jake's sin become more pronounced, and feeling so exhausted in training him. Just a part of being a mother to a two year old I suppose. Jake is doing wonderful loving on his brother! He loves to tickle him and kiss him and I find him ready and willing to push the paci back in Seth's mouth when he starts to fuss. He can tend to swing him very high in the baby swing ,,,,so we have to watch to make sure Seth doesn't fly out one day. Breastfeeding is going great! I am way more confident this time around with it and Seth seems to be a good eater. I have become quite the multi-tasker while nursing. I prefer to sit and just stare at my sweet Seth, but, every once in a while, I can surf the internet, fix Jake his lunch, read 10 thomas the train books in a row and cuddle with both boys, all while nursing:)

Some days(or rather hours) I feel like I can do this mommy of two thing. Those times I am so very grateful To God for my two blessings in my boys, and life seems to flow smooth. Then the next hour I am in tears wondering what were we thinking and how come I don't immediately ''feel'' God's grace at that moment. In those moments I am down on my knees, surrendering all to my Father. I am so weak and so dependent on Him for help to be the mother that He has called me to be. I cry out for patience and a tenderness that only the Lord can grant me when I want to be harsh and short with the children. I cry out for energy to continue to lovingly train my two year old when all I want to do is turn my head and pretend I didn't see it. I cry out for help when I have been up for 3-4 hours straight at night trying to figure out why my baby is crying. Yes, it has been a challenging season here in my home and heart, BUT, Its these times that I most feel God's presence in my life. Oh how He has cared for me! He has answered my prayers for help, He has given me energy to love and care for my babies. He has even used His word to speak to me in the quiet moments in the wee hours of the morning! Oh , how FAITHFUL He has been. Every day gets better and better. I am learning more and more how to balance my time and care for each child. I love my boys so much and today even had thoughts of having another one*GASP*

Saturday's are good. James is home and we feel like a big family. James has really been the model husband/father. He has taken up so much of what I can't do right now. He is basically glued to Jake caring for his needs on the weekend. He serves in so many ways without me having to ask. Maybe one day I will do a post on all the ways my husband loves/cares for me. It would be quite a long post:)

Well, I think that covers just about everything. Hopefully it won't be too long before my next post. I have not taken any good pictures of the boys. It seems to be quite a challenge to get good ones or even remember to take them. But when I do, I will make sure to post. Thanks for all the phone calls I have received and to all my friends who I have yet to have a full conversation with, thanks for being patient when I can't return a call as quickly as I used too....I miss you all:) Thanks for the meals we received from so many dear friends and most of all, Thanks to everyone who prayed for a healthy , beautiful baby boy! God has been so very good to us!!!!!!

Last Saturday was Jake's 2nd birthday! We had a small little party at he beginning of the month because I knew it would be too crazy here after the birth. On saturday, we took him to chickflla and ate ice cream cake after dinner. I still can't believe how much he has grown since Seth has been around. When we came home from the hospital I cried and cried cause it seemed like he gained 50 pounds and grew a foot. He looked so much more like a big kid than my baby. He is and always will be my baby, even when he is all grown with his own kiddos. We have so enjoyed him over he last 2 years. He has really grown into a spunky, fun, energetic, curious boy! I have like...1 minute to spare before some little guy needs to eat:) I will update with pics soon. There has been many challenges this last week and many moments of grace!!! Please pray that God will Give me MORE grace as we get used to this new life:) My sin of needing to feel in control has been very apparent these last few days and I know God is doing a good work in me....but it still hurts. I am abundantly blessed with 3 wonderful men in my life right now!!!! James has been the perfect picture of a servant to us this last week, and i get to have another week with him!!!!!! Any how, gotta go....when do you find the time to blog anyhow with two????????

Birth Story ....finally

Hey all, Just thought I'd write a little about details of Seth's birth and life now in general. Boring stuff for some of you:) I am trying to find the time to get some more pics of the little guy on the blog.

As you all know, We went in Friday morning to be induced, Never haveing done that before, I was still a little concerned with how my body was going to react to making this baby come out. I was hooked up to pitocin at 7:30 am with a little crying because i wanted to see my doctor first. He was busy doing a c-section and I was used to haveing a midwife constantly caring for me. Anyhow, things were going smoothly and i wasn't feeling many contractions so they kept bumping it up and at 10:00 the doctor broke my water. From then on, I was in pain! The pitocin was horrible! So I finally asked for my epidural and low and behold, I was like number 4 in line to get it...ughh. At 11;00 I got my beloved epi and all was well. I enjoyed my jello and popscicles and started feeling a little queasy when I started watching ''the view''......that show was more painful to watch than my pitocin contractions:) I sent my mom out for lunch shorty after thinking this was going to take forever...i had been once again stuck at 4cm. for a long time, I called the nurse in around 1;30 because I felt a lot of pressure and felt totally sure the epi was wearing off, and we COULD NOT have that happen, she checked me and said''honey your fully dialated!'' I then started profusely crying because I was so excited it was finally time to see my sweet baby!!!! I wanted to push so badly but they had to ''find'' my doctor!!!So at 2:oo he came in and I pushed till 2:14 and with no pain at all, my seth was born!!!!

Recover went well too. Seth started breastfeeding great from day 1. He was very healthy and had very low levels of biliirubin. Our rooms were very small and for a lot of reasons the morning after we wanted to be at home. So, they said all was well and discharged us the next afternoon. Jake had visited us in the hospital on saturday and the visit did not go as i had expected. I missed him so badly , I have only been away from him for 3 days once in his life. He came in and was so fearful of me and james and started crying for his ''maw-maw''. He wanted nothing to do with us....that really made me upset and a little fearful of what was to come. After luring him to me with a brownie, he started warming up to me and acting like his crazy self again. I think me in the hospital bed and the sterile room was a new scary sight to him. He hugged and kissed seth a lot at his visit too. The picture of Seth with all the monitor things on his face was the standard hearing test they give all babies. They did everything in the room. That is the new policy there, mother's keep babies 24/7. There were some things i liked and didn't like about that. I really think we might consider delivering somewhere else nexttime if Northeast does't expand there rooms like most other hospitals have. Keeping two adults and a baby in that cracker box room for 48 hours was not my idea of relaxing:)

Overall, I was really happy about the whole birthing experience. A little more painful than with Jake but still a mostly enjoyable experience. My ultimate expectation and hopes was to just have a healthy baby:) It was just as amazing to see and hold my sweet baby Seth as it was with Jake. We really felt the Lord's presence their in the room with us that day. He was so kind to give us a safe delivery and the most beautiful baby in the world!

oh, and the pic of all the wires on Seth was the standard hearing test they give all newborns, they usually do that in the nursery but since it is a ''koala care'' hospital, they did that in our rooms.

I know I know, I have yet to upload all the pics but will try on Monday. We actually got home yesterday early evening. We were not very comfy at the hospital so asked if we could leave. All looked well so 24 hours after giving birth we came home;) I will write a little later about the birth story (it was really neat) and my sweet little baby Seth. He has thick dark hair and is kinda hairy...he's our little monkey:) I am very tired as last night was really, really hard. And the nursing pain is starting all over again-even with what seems like a good latch. So as I get to know my little one and rest a little, I will post pics and more baby info:)

Also, we would love visitors if anyone wants to come over....just call to see when a good time is.

Yup, here we are. Forty weeks under my belt (literally) and baby Seth is still as cozy as ever. Went in this morning for my last appt. and there has been STILL NO PROGRESSION!!! Ya know what tho, I really don't care at this point. I have my induction for friday morning with the doctor whom i love (Dr. Jones) and my house is clean, last load of laundry done, painted toes, bags officially packed and childcare taken care of...whew! Im ready! I just have this feeling that even if I were to wait till 41 weeks, I would still have to be induced. I feel he will go no where on his own. I still am told by my doctors that my labor should go smoothly, given i am already progressed with a favorable cervix, but i do understand that there is always a risk in this situation. Please pray that the baby does well and so do I. Pray that I don't let fear overtake my thoughts and all the ''what-ifs''. God has a GOOD plan for this baby and I, and I really need to trust that He has what's best for us on friday. I have been a little weepy these last days knowing that life is about to change forever. I love my Jacob sooo much and wonder how in the world i am going to love Seth as much. I know these are my final moments with jake and i am really trying to not spend all of them crying and telling him how much i love him, because he tends to look at me like i've gone nuts and tries to console me. I am trying to have fun and get in some last reading on the couch cuddle time. God has blessed us so incredibly much and we are so undeserving of the two little boys we are about to have, I know His grace will flow abundantly in the challenging moments of the next few weeks and I will be taught more and more what it means to be sanctified to look more and more like HIM. Oh, I am so excited to finally meet my little one whose been bruising my insides every night at 11:00 and get to hold and look at the eyes of another undeserved blessing.
I probably won't post again till I'm home but I know my blog readers aren't that many, so most likely you will be called or get a call from someone else when Seth is born. When I get home hopefully Sunday I will try to post pics and stuff. Thanks for your many prayers!!!!!

hey everyone, I went to the Dr. on wednesday and had no progression:( My Doctor did say that I could induce whenever I was ready, since my cervix was favorable. After being heavily enticed by the offer, and after some prayer, we decided it was a bit too early for that route. We have decided that if the baby doesn't come before next friday the 22nd, we will be induced that morning at 5:30 am. At that point I will be a couple days overdue and we feel at peace about serving little Seth his eviction notice:) His lease is almost up:) My doctor's don't induce past 41 weeks anyhow so friday seemed to be a good day for a birthday. We are really praying for little Seth to come on his own.....there is still something exciting about wondering ''is this it?'' and being almost ready to strangle my husband for hitting every pot hole on the road or driving in the emergency lane in 5:00 traffic to the hospital because we think we might deliver in the car:) crazy I know, but it brings us closer together.hahah. So, anyhow, please keep us all in your prayers in the coming days. I am going to try to keep myself busy in the meantime and walk a lot! I will post if there is any news....i've always wanted to go into labor and do a blog post, that would be kinda neat to look back on, we will see how that one turns out. I also have some cute pics of Jakes little birthday party a couple weeks ago to post. We celebrated early so I knew he would actually get one. His birthday is actually the 30th.

Good news!!!!
I went in this morning and now I am 2 cent.!!!!! so I went from .5 to a 2 in one week! The bad contractions I had on sunday really did something:) The doctor said this baby is really starting to signal he wants OUT!! YAY! I go in next wednesday again and will be 39 weeks. We are getting there:)

(please note: I am not sinfully complaining about no progression....I simply am so EXCITED for WONDERFUL little babies to make their appearance....I KNOW it is God's perfect timing for this little one to come!!!!! I just can hardly stand to not be holding him and looking at the face of my little miracle!!!!!

Doctor appt. Friday

hahaha seems with my last post some thought this baby was making it's arrival:) Nope....feel like NOTHING is happening! I go in tomm. a.m for another check up. Maybe, just maybe, the doc will be like ''woooo nelly! this baby is going to come ANY DAY, MAYBE EVEN ANY HOUR!!!'' ya think? not likely huh? My toenails have not been painted so that wouldn't be good timeing anyhow:) We did get the carseat the other day, i felt like it was christmas with the UPS man delivering the package, we practiced by putting jakes teddy bear in it and oh, he loved it! He tickled it and hugged it....hopeing for more of that in a few weeks:)
I have been ''nesting'' here lately as well.....won't bore you with all the things I can find to clean and then feel so tired I wanna cry when i don't have enough stamina to clean the bottoms of my kitchen cabinets and the grooves in all the doors. Poor jake...he probably thinks mom has gone looney with it all.....im putting him to work too, I bought him his very own broom to help out. Maybe soon, this crazyness will be over!

The blanket you see there on the chair is the BEAUTIFUL baby blanket Robin Miracle made for Seth. Little did I know that it totally matched the nursing cover Rebecca made me! LOVE matchy-matchy stuff:)

The room has really no ''theme'' we liked the retro cars and tin posters...we really liked the orbit room one:) My wonderful sister-in-law made the valence and the bedding. Round crib bedding is SO EXPENSIVE and so ugly:( She was kind enough to offer and save us tons of money.

Jake Updates

This is Jake playing hide and seek under the table...not a very good hiding spot! The other is proof positive of us trying to work on table manners:)

These last 3 weeks have been full of challenges and surprises in the hasty house. With my grandmother suffering a major heart-attack and needing an emergency quadruple bypass resulting in taking Jake to Asheville with me, Him having a looong bout of fevers and emergency car repair bills on both our cars that could rival lottery winnings...;) And James uncle given only 2 months to live due to cancer spreading all through his body.......it has been a....season. With that to say, my little man has been SUCH A JOY!!!!! He has been his usual sweet, energetic self even when he had 103 degree temperatues! We have really felt the Lord's kindness through our little trooper these last weeks! I look forward to seeing his sweet ''sleepy'' face when I get him up in the morning and hearing him say''hi'' to everything in his room..one by one. He thinks everything is ''pitty''-pretty-...and is becoming quite the social busy bee. There is not person at Target he won't pass without waving to and saying HEYYYYYYY! We are really working on staying in the shopping cart in stores, otherwise he will take off in the direction of the nearest person to socialize. He is now pointing to my belly saying''babbbyyy'' over and over..hmmm...maby he IS getting it? We have moved him to the table in a booster chair, with that has come early lessons in table manners. Every meal is a new opporunity to explain why he can't pour his yogurt on his head or take chewed food back out of his mouth just to re-eat...yuck! He does love being a part of our conversations though, chiming in with us, understanding 30% of what he is so emphatically trying to saying to us:)
He has taken a new interest in coloring and play-doh and to my surprise, sat for a full 45 minutes playing with his array of colors of play-doh. He begs to sit and watch me cook every evening, it has stretched my cooking time and my patience but has proven to even more be a sweet, sweet time together. He helps me to measure and stir and of course, taste!
James found an onion and squash piece in his coffee canister that was filled with coffee. Jake has apparently snuck some pieces in when I didn't see him and James noticed the next day his coffee tasted funky.....:) Jake still loves anything that has to do with matchbox cars, trains, curious george, dogs, balls, pool time, and ice cream. I guess the ever typical little boy!
I think i am done for now, James just asked me if I was writing a book:)

34 week belly

I just realized I have not written much about this pregnancy....and it's almost over!!! I can't believe I have only 6 weeks left!
I am getting very anxious to meet this little guy, he is already different from his brother in that he moves ALL OF THE TIME!!!! And he still seems so small. I was much bigger with Jake at this point. I have been very blessed to not be sick or too uncomfortable this pregnancy. I have kept the same schedule (plus a few more naps) that I have always had, so nothing really looks different in my day. I think that I sometimes do TOO MUCH, not wanting to use ''pregnancy'' as an excuse, and then finding myself over exhausted and lacking control over my hormones at the end of the day. So it has been a challenge to know when to slow down and change things up in my day to better serve my family and I. That brings me to my emotions....wow! It all started a month or so ago, this bomb of hormones that seemed so incredibly overwhelming. Crying just because. Extreme lack of patience over the smallest of things and just a general fighting hour by hour for joy. James has been so faithful to allow me to cry on him and yet reminding me all the while that I serve a God that is full of grace and DEEPLY desires to comfort me in these times and is never to busy to handle the concerns of my heart, as seemingly small and hormonal as they are. I am so freshly aware of my need for My Father. I am so inadequate to handle ANYTHING on my own and it is through times like these that my relationship deepens with the Lord as I plead for help to battle the war of hormones, doubts, anxiety's within me. I know He will continue to pour out his comfort and encouragement on me these next 6 weeks and probably even more grace when baby Seth comes. Good thing His grace never ''runs up'':)
On to happier news.....
the baby room is almost done!!! My sister in law is coming this week to finish the bedding. We were given a beautiful diamond-in-the-rough round baby crib that needed major work. Well, after hours and hours and weekends of my handy man husband working on it...the end result is simply beautiful!!!!!! We refinished it black along with the changing table. I will post those pics soon. I still feel like I have a lot to do to get ready for this little one, yet I know I still have plenty of time left. As I have more news I will post, my doctor's visits will soon start to tell me something more exciting i'm sure!!!!!

Here is some pics of Jake baking a cake with me. We had gotten in from playing in our new pop-up pool ( it's like a baby pool on steroids) and started dinner. That is why he is wearing his pirate towel pullover. By the way...when he is determined to wear that thing...it can stay on ALL DAY...he even wore it for nap time the other day...still damp and all!!!!
As you can tell....the cake mix was a hit! no worries...there was no raw eggs in this batter:) He kept saying ''mmmm good, yay!'' as he licked the spoons.

I have found a few websites but have been a little confused on terminology of the ingredients. Any websites that are a little clearer would be helpful. Mainly looking for mercury and aborted fetal anything in them. I know some of you have taken the time to do a lot of research in this area....thanks!!!!

We just got back from spending 11 wonderful days at Myrtle Beach! We are blessed every year by my sister-in-law to stay for free at their HUGE beach house. We had our dear friends Doug and Kristin and their 3 girls stay with us for 3 days and were joined by an overnight visit from the Pennell's mid week, with James parents coming down the end of the week....whew! We never got bored. In an effort not to sound like a ''stepford blogger''(stolen from erin:) ) I must confess the beginning of the week was a little rough,seeing how my son wanted no part of being around water!!!! Guess he didn't fully understand that is WHY you go to the beach!!!! After working through some serious ''how can you do this to me on my vacation''complaining, I was yet again reminded that God does not stop growing us into His image on vacation, which of course means major pruning of my idols of comfort and ease. But God was so kind and wonderful to give us some great family memories while easing Jake into getting comfortable with the water. I am so pleased to say that on the fourth day there, something clicked.......and he began to LOVE the water!!!! He is a little hesitant to get in the ocean, but will play well in the sand. He mostly loved the pool. He will now go under water without even flinching and kick and play ball etc. He still prefers me to hold him but hey, that's fine by me:) He even went down the slide with james! I was hopeing he would come to love it since he loves bath time so much....even when I splash his face with water (we have never avoided getting water in his face at bath time in hopes he would get used to it) and I can say that really has helped. So from then on, the hasty family vacation was almost perfect, I mean really...no car accidents or major hurricanes or even bad attitudes from any one of us!!!!James and I even got to go out on a date when his parents came. That was one of the highlights for me, we ate dinner at a restaurant on the beach, talked a lot and watched a jet ski race that was going on. I so love it when I get to give james my FULL attention over a good meal from time to time:)
Now that I have more than likely bored you readers to tears, since I know most of my blog readers only want the pics...here ya go!!!!!

Much to my surprise, I found sidewalk chalk all over the side of my car today. I THOUGHT Jake was contently playing in the garage with his basketball while I was starting dinner the other day....but come to only assume he was finding new places to use his new colorful sidewalk chalk!:)
I wonder if my chuckle would not have been such a chuckle if it had been a nice new car with now a few more scratches on it?

And yes....he has been since instructed that writing on the car is a ''non-no''.

Okay , this will be short.
Pregnancy is going GREAT!!!! My energy is finally back!!!! I have been doing so many projects around the house and have so many more to get done. I will post my 26 week belly pics soon and pics of the baby room as we get it done. Im really starting to finally show....:)
It has been very hard to be patient for this little one to come....harder as the days go by. Doesn't pregnancy seem soooo long, I mean..it is almost a YEAR!!!! I have been very blessed and incredibly encouraged by talking with some wonderful ''older'' women about this next season that I am about to enter. I am so full of faith that God's grace will be lavished on me and my family yet again as we welcome another into the hasty house! I am a blessed women!!!!!

This is what ''room time'' looks like AFTER I come in:) As you can tell, he pulls EVERY single toy out during that short 30-45 minutes. Needless to say, we have ''clean-up time'' right after!
We received the new train table as a gift from the Woods and he LOVES it! It comes with an extensive set of tracks and trains for when he is a little older, for now he has discovered that if he stands on it and knocks on the window, the little neighbor boys will pay him attention! Another great use for the table is a platform to show off his dancing skills:)

This story is great! But even if us stay at home moms were only ''worth'' 10,000$ a year, it would still be the best ''job'' in the world to me!!!! There is NO AMOUNT OF MONEY that could equal spending the day caring for, nurturing, training, playing, kissing boo-boos with my most favorite little-big boy , and doing my best to make my home peaceful and a joy for James to come home to(most of the time:).

I now have my double baby jogger!!!!! My family I nannie for practically gave it to me. They are so generous! I must admit I have been desiring a lot more these days to hit the pavement and get my runner's high back:) When I see other's running I become a little jealous! I have even daydreamed about what 5k I want to start to train for after baby comes.....we shall see.

My dear friend Dena had her baby girl last week and I couldn't wait to see her! It felt SO GOOD to hold a baby in my arms. I had a slight bit of baby envy till I remembered I was pregnant:) oh the things I forget these days!! 7 Things I'd like to do before I die
1. There is NOTHING that would bring me greater joy before I ''go home'' than to see ALL of my children saved. The rest of this list is just for fun.
2. Celebrate my 50th anniversary with my sweetie!
3. Run a Marathon....and then
4. proceed to eat a WHOLE cinnabon BY MYSELF and not feel guilty
5. Go on a missions trip
6. Hold my grandchildren
7. Learn how to shoot a gun, and then purchase my pink handgun with rhinestones on the side that say my name...how adorable!!!!

7 Things I can't do well

1. Dance
2. Clap- you will RARELY ever see me clap to a song at church because I have to REALLY concentrate way too much on keeping the rythem.
3. Stay focused on a task- I can be cleaning dishes and remember to put something in the closet, then that turns into spring cleaning all the closets in the house, when I meant to just put it away...all the while the dishes are still sitting there!
4. Not complaining- This is one of my biggest areas I have been trying to work on. Finding joy even in the smallest times....like when it's raining or I am tired. Seeing it truley as a lack of contentment.
5. Keep long distance friendships
6. Math
7. Watch any movie with Winona Ryder in it. She erks me for some reason????

Jake The Snake

We have been reading/speaking a lot to Jake about animals here lately. The other night he was partial to the snake. He took James belt and squiggled all around saying'''ssssshhhhssss'' like a snake!!! It was sooo cute. And this is him laughing at himself when we started to laugh. What a clown:)

BOY!!!!!!

Can you tell? The ultrasound tech. was for certain that it's a boy!!! And, the best part, everything checked out GREAT!!!!!
We are very excited!!! I get really excited to think about what this is going to mean for Jake. He will always have a playmate, a hide and seek partner and a little buddy to get into mischief with as well! They will be almost 2 years apart to the day.
We ''plan''to have 1-2 more and I would be lying if I said I didn't care if I ever had a girl, I do, but God has CHOSEN US to have 2 sweet little boys to shape into men that, we pray, would one day know there Savior and bring Him glory with their lives. It is a little daunting, but we are up for this HUGE calling of raising two young men, because we know through are wonderful Heavenly Father's promise.......He will supply all the grace we need!!!!!

Ultrasound Thursday

Just wanted to ask for prayer for thursday's ultrasound. Please pray with us that this baby looks healthy on the ultrasound. I have had horrible dreams about seeing 3 arms and/or intestines outside of the body.....yeah, I know.....that's what we call NOT trusting God....or His plan for our lives. These fears just show me how much I think I can do a better job ruling my life. I am learning so much about my sinful self-sufficiency these days!!!!!
We are soooo excited to hopefully see if we will be having a girlie or a boy!!! I will post as soon as I get back from the appt. It's in the morning sooooo.....stay tuned!

Preggo Update

I went and heard the baby's heartbeat last week on the doppler! Also, on March 20 we will(hopefully) find out the gender. I totally think we are having another boy....but then again I have been known to be wrong:) We really could care less what it is. Sometimes I see myself being a very happy mom to lots of boys, and sometimes I could see a little girlie in the mix too. I am a little concerned that if I have a girl, i will be tempted all the time to buy tights, bows, shoes to match every outfit and see cute things everywhere I turn!!!!!!. Right now, Jake is so low maintenance...just throw on jeans that are faded in the knees, and a shirt that has spaghetti sauce stains and he STILL is adorable. He seems to smell even sweeter after he has been outside and smells like dog and grass:) I know...such petty concerns:) Anyway....here is the big poll....lemme know what you think it will be........

It has been a while since my last post!!! i have been quite tired here lately, so it's either posting or sleeping, and I suppose you know wich one I have been doing more of:)
Here is a month recap........We have all battled the stomach bug, I had a birthday, James and I just celebrated 7 WONDERFFUL years of marriage, we know have had an official ''walker'' for the last couple weeks(so fun!), training lots in the heart department with Jake...thus seeing lots COME OUT in the heart department with me:) So it has been quite a month for us!!! Full of such grace as well! James and I are planning a charleston getaway in march for our birthday's/anniversary, we are soooo excited! we have never been there so still trying to find a hotel that is decent to stay at but not too outrageouse price wise....any suggestions please?!!
Pregnancy going well! I seem to have the early trimester sleepiness back? kinda weird! I like to be in bed by 8:30 or so. I really hope this ends soon, I think James gets bored at night:) I have a doc. appt. wed. to hear the heartbeat and the next appt. we will find out the gender! I would post belly pics but there is nothing to show yet. I am sure it will pop soon though.

HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!! PRAISE GOD!
James and I went in this morning for the first exam and my wonderful Doctor let me have a ultrasound! And there was little baby's heartbeat loud and strong!!!We were so excited to see the baby...kinda made it more ''real'' to us. My due date is now 1 day ahead at august 20. I will be 10 weeks tomm.
God is so kind! Our hearts were truely prepared to accept whatever the Lord's plan was for this sweet child, so we will continue to pray for him/her to be healthy and strong, and for our hearts to not allow fear/anxiety to overtake the joy of this miracle. And that is what this baby truely is....a miracle.

Here are some new pics of what little man is doing during the day. Jake walked across the living room floor the other night!!!! we have a GREAT video of it where he is laughing SO HARD at himself walking...ill have to find a way to post it. So hopefully taking walks together soon:) Also he now insists to eat with a spoon or kid fork....not very good at it but SO GLAD he has that desire. Also this is his very first scribble art we did during our morning ''art'' time this week...mommy helped:) We will have to forgo sidewalk chalk for a while ....he seems to love the taste!
I have ben starting to get very queasy most of the day and remain just as tired....I have a new respect for my friend Lisa who was really sick all pregnancy! Wow girl!!!! but I hear it is a ''good'' sign right? I go in on the 22nd with james for the appt. We did get it changed so he could be there with me...yay!

Christmas and updates

This is such a late post I know! Christmas was really great this year! Last year, Jake was just a little itty-bitty thing, so this year it was neat to actually see him play with his presents and not just mouth them:) A few days before Christmas, Jake and his buddies had a birthday party for Jesus, complete with cupcakes and balloons. A little young I know, but isn't it about sowing the seeds early?
We had a nice time having Christmas eve at James grandpas and then the Christmas eve service at church. In the morning we got Jake up, and when he saw his presents he *gasped*and went straight to his brand new basketball....such a boy:) He LOVES his little people farmhouse as well. As you can tell...my mom got him his first''man chair""!!!!!!! He loves to sit and climb all up in it. He looks just like a big boy sitting in it!!!
We continued the day with christmas over at his maw-maw and paw-paw's. All his boy cousins were there and I think that was the highlight of his day.....he loves to play with his cousins.
Next year will really look a little different here at christmas time with another little one around!!! looking forward to it!
That brings me to update on the pregnancy.
I will be 7 weeks this thursday and am starting to feel a little nauxiose. I had some avacado today which normally I LOVE, but I almost gagged at the after taste of it. It was traumatic. Last time I developed an aversion to chicken the WHOLE pregnancy so my dear husband almost starved for 9 months....I hope that doesn't happen again:)
I am starting to feel really tired as well....But I have been here, done this before and I know there is more energy that comes around when you get out of this trimester.
I have my first doctor appt and ultrasound in 2 weeks. James will be out of town and I will be taking along a dear friend who is a nurse as well. I am in faith that there will be a heartbeat and everything will be fine, but I could really use the prayers that I would continue to accept whatever it is the GREAT Lord's plan is for my baby. We really did not want to have to try to recheduale for when james would be in town(and it is super hard to get in) so I sure will miss my hubby this go round:)

Jake is getting so big!!!!
My sweet little boy is as fun as ever. what a little personality he has! He knows the signs I have taught him very well..''more''..''.eat'' and'' all done''....i need to teach him more, it sure does really help to know if he is done or wants more. He even does ''more'' when he doesn't want his daddy to stop playing ball with him. He throws the ball really well and loves to stack blocks and crash them down..over and over again. He loves to be read too and loves any books with animals or body parts...and of course flaps to try to tear off:)
He is still not walking...just enjoying crusin'. The pediatrition said his muscle tone is fine and he will walk when he wants too. Hopefully by his 18 month checkup he will be. He will stand up by himself and clap and look at us like he's doing something spectacular and then sit down...he will not take that first step!! I'm sure it will be soon(I hope).
oh yeah....for part of his presents,I got him the ''praise baby'' collection set and he LOVES it!!! It's like baby einstein to worship music. He will watch part of it and then play with his toys while its going. The songs i have heard are actually really cross-centered songs we sing at church! So good for BOTH our ears!

Colorado

A couple weeks ago, we all flew to Colorado Springs for my sister's wedding. It was great to see her and my brother whom I rarely get to see. The wedding was beautiful! Like something out of a wedding magazine!
It was a rather short trip, just 4 days and FULL of activities!
Note to self- NEVER, NEVER,NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take a 15 month old on a 6 hour plane ride again!!!!!!!
We were the family you see in the movies with the hysterical baby on board:) we had to wake him up to go at 4:30 in the morning so it made for a VERY long day. On the way back he did SO MUCH better! We requested bulkhead seats and he LOVED being able to get down and play...he spent most of the time ''talking'' with other passengers or playing ''peek-a-boo'' with the ladies in the next seat! Very cute! So anyhow...I think we will be staying home for a while;)

Jake is going to have a new playmate!!!!!! That's right gals and guys....I'M PREGNANT!!!!!
I'm only a little over 4 weeks pregnant. I have not gone to the doctor's yet...i'll go at 8 weeks. My due date though is almost Jake's birthday!!! It's anywhere from August 24-26. I was due with Jake on august 26 but he came on Aug.30.....So almost exactly 2 years apart!!!
We have been trying for 6 months to get pregnant again. This time around was certainly longer than the first 2, but it has really been ANOTHER opportunity to trust the Lord's timing for us. We are SO GRATEFUL to the Lord for this HUGE HUGE BLESSING!!!!!
I LOVE being pregnant, I LOVE knowing that there is another life being formed in me, I LOVE reading all the details of what is happening every day with my little one, I even LOVE feeling sick and exhausted!!! I LOVE talking to other random pregnant women in malls, stores, check outs, ANYWHERE!!!! So as you can tell, I LOVE it all!
I have been so busy with our trip to colorado that I really haven't had time to be tempted to fear another miscarriage. I know my sin filled heart needs to be on guard against this HUGE temptation that seems to accompany every pregnancy. God is faithful and good and He has a plan for this little one, whatever that may be. Please, everyone, be praying for hasty #2 and as well my heart, that I may GLORIFY and TRUST God in this pregnancy and focus more on this blessing than on worry or fear of the ''what ifs''.
I invite you all to feel free to ask me how I am doing in this area.

Also That I would have enough energy while I work 2 afternoons a week for the old family I used to nanny for. It's only till May, but I know 3 kids those days might be more work(yeah I know juli,becky,jess,are laughing right now)
I worked 45+hours a week till I was 2 weeks due with jake, with that family, so I never have been used to ''taking it easy'' during pregnancy, so hopefully I will be used to it.

I hope you all like pregnancy updates because there will be A LOT of them!!!
